Provincial Summer Language & Culture Programs

The ORA and OBW provincial programs all offer short-term summer language and culture programs.  These are not exchange programs - they involve a tuition fee paid to the hosting university. Students can receive University of Guelph credit for these programs if approved by their Program Counsellor. The credit transfer must be done through the Letter of Permission (LOP) process and can be coordinated with your Program Counsellor.

The ORA Summer Language Program offers an intensive French language course at the Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced level during the month of July in France. Students may receive 1.0 University of Guelph credits in French upon approval by their Program Counsellor through the Letter of Permission process.

The OUI online applications and information will be available on the ORA website by January. Once you complete the OUI online application students are required to send a pdf copy to CIP, goabroad@uoguelph.ca, by the stated deadline. Note, you must also complete the CIP application to be considered for the OUI SLP. Please make sure you complete the correct application by the correct deadline.

You can take Beginner level French if you've never taken French before.  Or, if you want to do a full exchange semester or year in France but have only completed first-year French at the University of Guelph, you can take the Intermediate level French course at the summer school and then begin a regular ORA exchange afterwards at one of the ORA universities (an ORA exchange is a separate application).

*Note, participants are eligible to receive a $1,200 scholarship for the ORA SLP program.
