Summer 2021 programs will not be running

After much consideration, the University of Guelph is cancelling face-to-face exchange and other study abroad programs for Summer 21 (incoming and outbound). Our students will therefore not be able to participate in any short-term summer programs offered by our partners, and will not be able to go on exchange to Australia, New Zealand or Fiji where the semester starts in July.

We anticipate that proof of vaccination will be a pre-requisite for travel and it is unlikely our students will be fully vaccinated with enough time to make travel arrangements during the summer. Travel arrangements (including obtaining comprehensive health insurance) are still difficult, unreliable and in some cases prohibitively expensive. All these factors would make the lives of students planning to study abroad in S21 very uncertain. Because students need to commit to some arrangements (course selection, housing, summer jobs) months in advance, cancellation at a later date could expose students to financial risks as well as undue stress.

Applications for F21 and W22 are still being accepted at this time.
